To set up your armor, you first need to know a few basic general rules. Listed here below are a few steps with information for you to refer to if you ever forget things about setting up your characters armor.

  1. Each character class has different armor rating which means armor of a warrior maxes out at 80 and armor for an elementalist maxes out at 60. You can't use armor from one character to the other. If you have heros, they can't share armor either. Each piece of armor is specifically customized for that character.
  2. When selecting armor, generally the head piece will have an attribute built into the armor. Meaning if you are making a warrior and you are picking a helmet, the helmet will say either swordmanship +1, axe mastery +1 or hammer mastery +1 as a default. With this in mind you need to pay attention to the skill setup you are going to use for your character before choosing this piece of armor. All other pieces of armor will come standard with no difference except for armor type.
  3. A good rule of thumb to remember is, each piece of armor can only have (1) Insignia & (1) Rune attached to it. These items are bought from a Rune Trader generally found in a main town or a guild hall, that has added this feature. Another possible place to find insignia's or runes is on the drops of enemies during game play. Insignia's and runes can be salvaged from the drops and added to a needed piece of armor that you might have, can be saved for future use or sold back to a Merchant/Rune Trader.
  4. Removing or salvaging insignia's or runes from your characters armor can be a risk using a plain salvage kit, expert salvage kit or a superior salvage kit. The only safe way to remove a insignia or rune without the chance of destroying it is to use a perfect salvage kit.
  5. Adding runes with a different attribute than your primary profession is not allowed. Example: If your character is a warrior, you won't be able to add a +1 Fire Magic rune to a piece of your armor.
  6. Finally, dying your armor. Each piece of armor can be dyed to the color of your liking. Note that mixing some colors makes a different color then the standard colors. Once a dye is used on a piece of armor, that dye color can't be undone, unless you use a different dye color.

I hope these few general tips will help you out with setting up armor for your character. Please feel free to ask anyone for some help if you have any problems or questions.
